In Star Conflict there are 3 types of Weaponry:

Lasers (Thermal Damage), Plasma Cannons (EM damage), and Rail Guns (Kinetic)

EM excells at breaking shields, Kinetic is best for breaking hulls, Thermal is balanced. As you get higher in teir, you can equip weapon mods that can change the type of damage a weapon does, or increase it. For example, a Teir 2 laser can either have it's thermal damage increased by 3% or be turned into EM damage and add 1%.

Lasers are the most accurate of the weapons, as there is little to no spread depending on the type of laser you use. Plasma cannons and Rail guns require leading (shooting ahead of the target), and the spot where you should be shooting shows up once you are locked on.
